Stories / Impact

Every story is a reason we do this.

The impact of WCHC lives in the stories of the players, mentors, and families who have felt seen, supported, and changed by this community.

Kianna's Story

"Being part of Black Girl Hockey Club, now the Women of Colour Hockey Collective, changed the way I see myself in hockey. It gave me confidence, community, and the reminder that I belong in this sport."

"That experience stayed with me and pushed me to give back in a meaningful way. I created Kianna's Krew to provide young Black youth in Manitoba with the same support, visibility, and encouragement that helped shape my journey."

"What began as a passion has pushed me to ensure others are able to have the same confidence and supportive community that has shaped not only my experience, but who I am as a person."

Sienna

Player

WCHC played a huge role in shaping my hockey journey by giving me a sense of belonging and showing me the power of community in a space where that's not always felt. It inspired me to organize a Black History Month game at Queen's as a way to celebrate our presence in hockey and start a tradition that empowers future superstars.

I'm so proud to be a part of so many powerful initiatives, give back to my community, and show other young girls out there that anything is possible!"
